Kenneth Walker has already put up four touchdowns in the playoffs, so it is no shock to see him heading up the First Touchdown Scorer market for Super Bowl LX. However, it is a Seattle team-mate that we are leaning towards.
Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba developed some serious chemistry in their first season together with the Seahawks, resulting in the wide receiver leading the league in receiving yards and ranking joint third in receiving touchdowns at the end of the regular season.
Smith-Njigba was relatively quiet in Seattle’s first postseason outing was a quiet one, but the talented wideout was not really needed as his team dominated San Francisco on the ground and on defense, meaning Darnold did not have to take to the air much. Even so, JSN still found the endzone in that blowout of the Niners.
The NFC Championship Game played out much differently. Seattle leaned on the arm of Darnold for that matchup and it was no surprise that he routinely went to his favourite target, Smith-Njigba. The former Ohio State star rewarded his quarterback by hauling in 10 of his 12 targets for 153 yards and another postseason touchdown.
Smith-Njigba now comes up against a strong New England secondary, but it does not seem to matter who teams put on him, he still delivers when targeted. He has 12 touchdowns this season, with three of them being the first TD of that game, and we expect him to add to that tally during Super Bowl LX. So with New England boasting a stout run defense, we recommend backing JSN in the First and Anytime markets.
