Washington head to Tampa riding a five-game win streak that saw them finish the regular season with a 12-5 record.
The Commanders opened the season with a 37-20 defeat in Tampa, only to rebound strong with seven wins in their next eight games.
Their form collapsed In November though, as then sandwiched a 26-18 road defeat to Philadelphia with home losses against Pittsburgh, 28-27, and Dallas, 34-26.
Washington have not lost since the start of December though, with the 42-19 blowout of Tennessee proving to be the start of a five-game tear.
The Commanders then beat New Orleans 20-19, upset Philadelphia 36-33, downed Atlanta 30-24 in overtime, and ran out 23-19 winners at Dallas.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Form
Tampa Bay go into this postseason having won six of their final regular season games to finish with a 10-7 record.
The Buccaneers beat playoff opponents Washington on opening weekend, 37-20, and then downed Detroit on the road, 26-7.
They won just two of the next four though, and then endured a four-game losing skid that threatened to derail their season.
Tampa Bay stopped the rot in late November though, beating the New York Giants 30-7 on the road, and backed that up by winning the next three games.
The Buccaneers’ run was ended by a 26-24 loss at Dallas, but they responded immediately to close out the regular season with a 48-14 blowout of Carolina and a 27-19 victory over New Orleans.
Verdict
Washington have improved since the Week 1 meeting, but we still like Tampa Bay in this one.
