The Bruins started the second half of March by winning three consecutive games, but suddenly cooled off.
They were beaten 5-2 at home by the New York Rangers, and then went out on the road to suffer a 3-2 defeat in Philadelphia.
Boston avoided a third straight defeat as they won 4-3 in Florida, but they failed to follow that up as they then lost 3-1 at Tampa Bay.
The Bruins did issue an immediate response to that defeat though, winning via a shootout in Washington, and they then backed that up with a 3-0 shutout win in Nashville.
Carolina Hurricanes Form
Carolina come into this game in strong form, having now won 11 of their previous 14 games.
The Hurricanes won three straight in early March and then rebounded from a 1-0 defeat to the New York Rangers with a run of five consecutive victories.
They followed up a 4-0 win at home to Florida with road wins at Toronto (5-4 SO), Ottawa (7-2) and the New York Islanders (4-1), before heading home to beat Philadelphia 3-2 in overtime.
Carolina then cooled off as they lost two of the next three, sandwiching a 2-1 win at home to Pittsburgh with road defeats to Washington (7-6 SO) and Pittsburgh (4-1).
The Hurricanes have won the last two however, backing up a 4-0 shutout win over Detroit with a 3-0 shutout success in Montreal.

Carolina tend to come out on top when they host Boston, and given their recent form that trend is tipped to continue here.
