Calgary Flames at Edmonton Oilers Preview & Picks

Will Edmonton enjoy a winning start to the season?

Check back here on Wednesday morning for our free Calgary Flames at Edmonton Oilers tips.

Head To Head

  • Calgary Flames lead the all-time series 145-134-26
  • Edmonton Oilers won 3-2 in overtime when the two teams last met on March 29

Calgary Flames Form

Calgary enter the 2025/26 campaign looking to build on last season’s improvement and end their recent playoff exile.

The Flames have not appeared in the postseason since 2022, when they were eliminated in the second round by Edmonton.

Over the next two seasons they managed a total of just 76 wins as they placed fifth in the Pacific Division each time, missing out on the playoffs.

Calgary did put together 41 wins last season, but they suffered a bunch of overtime and shootout losses that forced them to settle for fourth place.

The Flames did show some improvement defensively though, with their 238 goals allowed their best tally in an 82-game season since 2018/19.

Edmonton Oilers Form

Edmonton come into this season aiming to finally get over the final hurdle following back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals defeats.

The Oilers endured a 10-season playoff drought between 2007 and 2016, but have become postseason regulars over the past several years.

They made the conference finals in 2022, only to get swept by Colorado in four games, but they appeared ready to take the next step when they made it to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2024.

However, Edmonton dropped a thrilling seven-game series with Florida to end the season empty-handed.

The Oilers were presented with an opportunity for revenge when both teams booked their place in the 2026 Finals, but again the Panthers had their number and took the series, 4-2.
