The Blackhawks got off to a winning start to the season, beating Pittsburgh 4-2 on the road, but they failed to build on that.
They lost five of their next six games, before springing a big upset on the road as they beat Vegas 4-3 in overtime.
Chicago failed to follow it up as they then suffered an 8-1 blowout defeat to the Coyotes in Arizona.
The Blackhawks bounced back with a 5-2 home win against Florida, only to lose 4-2 when they hosted New Jersey last Sunday.

Tampa Bay return home on the back of a victory in Montreal that improved their record to 6-3-4.
The Lightning opened with a 5-3 win at home to Nashville, but then suffered three straight road defeats.
A return home brought improved fortunes as they then won three of their next four games, only to lose 4-3 in overtime to Seattle before heading back out on the road.
Tampa Bay followed up that loss with a 4-2 defeat in Columbus, but were able to end that losing sequence with a 6-4 victory in Ottawa.
The Lightning then responded to a 6-5 overtime defeat in Toronto with a 5-3 win in Montreal on Tuesday night.
