Dallas enter this matchup having lost two of their last three games, but having won seven of the last 10 to improve to 13-5-4.
The Stars started this sequence by bouncing back from a couple of defeats with a 4-3 shootout win over Edmonton.
They then answered a 7-5 defeat to Anaheim with a 5-4 win at Nashville that sparked a five-game win streak.
Dallas backed that up by beating Seattle 2-1, Ottawa 3-2 in overtime, Montreal 7-0 and Philadelphia 5-1, before rebounding from a 3-2 loss to the New York Islanders with a 4-2 win in Vancouver.
The Stars failed to follow that up in Calgary though, as they dropped a shootout to the Flames, 3-2.
Edmonton Oilers Form
Edmonton return home on the back of a victory, but having lost seven of their last 11 games to fall to 10-9-5.
The Oilers’ bad run began on the road as they lost 3-2 in St Louis and 4-3 in Dallas, before returning home for a 9-1 defeat to Colorado.
They stopped the rot with overtime wins over Columbus, 5-4, and Philadelphia, 2-1, only to then suffer a 5-4 defeat when they visited the Blue Jackets.
Edmonton responded with a 4-3 overtime win in Carolina, but dropped the next three as they lost 5-1 in Buffalo, 7-4 at Washington and 2-1 in overtime at Tampa Bay.
The Oilers avoided a fourth straight defeat though, as they were beaten 6-3 in Florida last time out.
Verdict
Dallas have been in good form during the first several weeks of the season, playing solid hockey at both ends of the ice.
Edmonton, meanwhile, have dropped a bunch of games recently, so give us the Stars and the plus-money.
