The Stars put together a 52-21-9 record during the regular season, but bowed out in the conference finals as they surrendered a 2-1 lead.
They warmed up for the 2024/25 season by going 4-1 in the preseason – a sequence that starter with a four-game win streak.
Dallas began with three consecutive home games and beat St Louis 2-1, Minnesota 5-2 and Colorado 4-2.
The Stars then went out on the road to win 4-2 in Minnesota, before heading to St Louis for a 4-3 overtime defeat to the Blues.
Nashville Predators Form
Nashville have their sights on another trip to the postseason as they go into their opening matchup.
The Predators went 47-30-5 last season to book their place in the playoffs, only to fall at the first hurdle as they lost the series with Vancouver, 4-2.
They go into this meeting with Dallas having compiled a 2-4 record during their preseason schedule.
Nashville opened up with back-to-back defeats at Florida, 3-2 and 6-2, before finally getting off the mark with a 6-0 shutout win over Tampa Bay at home.
The Predators then backed that up with a 6-4 win in Carolina, before returning home to lose 5-3 to the Hurricanes.
