Detroit head to Dallas on the back of a couple of home defeats that have dropped them to 14-8-4.
The Red Wings hit a hot streak in late November as they embarked on a run of six wins in seven games.
They sandwiched a 5-2 win in Boston with home wins against New Jersey, 4-0, and Minnesota, 4-1, and then bounced back from a 3-2 defeat at the New York Rangers with three more wins.
Detroit beat Chicago 5-1 at home, before heading out on the road to beat Montreal 5-4 in overtime and Buffalo 5-3.
The Red Wings’ run was halted by a 6-5 overtime loss to San Jose, and that was followed by a 5-1 defeat to Ottawa.
Dallas Stars Form
Dallas come into this matchup in poor form, having lost six of their last nine games to fall to 15-8-3.
The Stars’ slump started with back-to-back defeats at home, as they were beaten 2-1 in overtime by Vegas before losing 7-4 to Calgary.
They responded with a 2-0 win in Winnipeg, only to then suffer a 4-3 overtime defeat when they travelled to Calgary.
Dallas bounced back with an 8-1 blowout of Tampa Bay at home, only to then lose 4-0 at the Lightning and 5-4 at Florida.
The Stars ended that road trip with a shootout win at Washington, but they failed to back it up as they were blown out 6-1 by Vegas.
Verdict
Dallas’ recent form has been poor, but when they host Detroit they tend to come out on top so we are sticking with the Stars.
