Edmonton Oilers at Florida Panthers Preview & Picks
The Over is tipped to cash once again the sixth game of the 2025 Stanley Cup Finals.
There is an old saying that “if something isn’t broke don’t fix it” and backing these two teams to go over the total continues to be a successful bet on this series.
- The Over has cashed in all 7 meetings this season
- The Over has hit in 11 of the last 12 meetings between Florida & Edmonton
- The 2025 Stanley Cup Finals is averaging 7.8 goals per game
- Florida Panthers are 6-2 in the previous 8 meetings with Edmonton
Head To Head
- Edmonton Oilers lead the all-time series 28-25-3
- Florida Panthers won 5-2 when the two teams last met on June 14
Edmonton Oilers Form
Edmonton head back out on the road knowing they must win in Florida or their Stanley Cup dream will be over.
The Oilers enjoyed a winning start to the series as they beat the Panthers 4-3 in overtime, but they were unable to back that up as they lost 5-4 in overtime and 6-1 in regulation.
They rallied to level the series at two wins apiece with a big 5-4 overtime victory on the road, only to fall behind again over the weekend as they lost 5-2 at home.
Edmonton went into this rematch of the 2024 Finals having gone 12-4 while eliminating Los Angeles, Vegas and Dallas.
The Oilers made a slow start as they lost back-to-back games in Los Angeles, 6-5 and 6-2, but they responded by winning the next four games to advance, 7-4, 4-3 (OT), 3-1 and 6-4.
They kept that run going as they made a better start to the second round, beating Vegas 4-2 in regulation and 5-4 in overtime on the road.
Edmonton then rebounded from a 4-3 home loss with a 3-0 victory, before heading back to Vegas to wrap up the series with a 1-0 overtime win.
The Oilers lost their first game of the Western Conference Finals series with Dallas, 6-3, but once again bounced back strongly from a postseason loss.
They levelled the series with a 3-0 victory in Texas, before returning home to take control with 6-1 and 4-1 successes at Rogers Place.
That gave Edmonton the chance to clinch on the road in Game 5, and they did just that as they beat the Stars 6-3 to seal their place in the Stanley Cup Finals.
Florida Panthers Form
Florida return home with an opportunity to lift the Stanley Cup after a massive road win on Saturday night.
The Panthers began this series with a 4-3 overtime defeat, but responded to that early setback with a couple of victories, winning 5-4 in overtime and 6-1 in regulation.
They surrendered the series lead with a disappointing 5-4 overtime loss at home, only to again rebound quickly from a defeat, winning 5-2 in Edmonton to leave themselves one win away from the championship.
Florida came into the 2025 Stanley Cup Finals having won 12 of their 17 postseason games to eliminate Tampa Bay, Toronto and Carolina.
The Panthers made a fast start to the playoffs as they won 6-2 and 2-0 at Tampa Bay, before bouncing back from a 5-1 loss with series-sealing 4-2 and 6-3 wins over the Lightning.
They failed to repeat that fast start in the second round as they travelled to Toronto and lost 5-4 and 4-3 to the Maple Leafs.
Florida rebounded at home though, winning 5-4 in overtime and 2-0 in regulation, before going ahead in the series for the first time with a 6-1 victory on the road.
The Panthers failed to wrap up the series at home, losing 2-0 to the Maple Leafs, but they held their nerve in Game 7 as they went back out on the road to win 6-1 in Toronto.
They backed up that win as they raced out to a three-game lead in the Eastern Conference Finals, reeling off 5-2 and 5-0 wins in Carolina, before heading home to beat the Hurricanes 6-2.
Florida missed out on a series sweep as they were beaten 3-0 in Game 4, but they put that behind them when they returned to Carolina to wrap up the series with a 5-3 victory.
Verdict
These two teams have gone over the total every single time that they have met this season.
We simply cannot ignore that stat, while we also recommend backing a Florida team that has the chance to clinch at home and boasts an excellent recent record against the Oilers.
