Edmonton go into the second game of the Stanley Cup Finals looking to knot up the series after a 3-0 defeat in Game 1.
The Oilers went through a bunch of lengthy series to reach the Stanley Cup Finals, knocking out Los Angeles, Vancouver and Dallas on the way.
They split the first two games of their first-round series with Los Angeles, but hit their stride in the third game, winning 6-1, and followed it up with 1-0 and 4-3 wins to advance to the third round.
Edmonton’s win streak ended against Vancouver as they traded wins for the first six games of the series, but they were able to get the job done in Game 7, winning 3-2.
The Oilers then got their noses in front in the Western Conference Finals as they won 3-2 in double overtime in Dallas, only to lose the next two meetings with the Stars.
They bounced back strongly from the 3-1 and 5-3 defeats however, reeling off 5-2, 3-1 and 2-1 wins to book their place in the Stanley Cup Finals.
Florida Panthers Form
Florida go into Game 2 looking to double their series lead before they head out on the road for the first time in the 2024 Stanley Cup Finals.
The Panthers, who won their division with a 52-24-6 record, made a fast start to the postseason as they won their first three playoff games.
They beat Tampa Bay 3-2, 3-2 (OT) and 5-3, before rebounding from a 6-3 defeat to the Lightning with a series-clinching 6-1 win.
Florida then rebounded from a 5-1 series-opening loss to Boston with 6-1, 6-2 and 3-2 victories, but needed two attempts to clinch as they bounced back from a 2-1 loss with a 2-1 win.
The Panthers backed up that win by beating the New York Rangers 3-0 in overtime in the first game of the conference finals, only to then lose the next two games in overtime, 2-1 and 5-4.
They did not lose another game in that series though, securing their place in the Stanley Cup Finals with 3-2 (OT), 3-2 and 2-1 victories.
Verdict
Florida are the more-rounded team with a deeper roster, and this team has been here before.
They are unbeaten against Edmonton this season and are in good form at home, so we expect the Panthers to opening up a 2-0 series lead.
