They went 47-31-4 in the regular season, securing a return to the playoffs to defend their crown, and they made a great start to the series with Tampa Bay.
Florida won back-to-back road games, 6-2 and 2-0, but passed up the opportunity to clinch at home as they lost 5-1 in Game 3.
The Panthers responded with a 4-2 victory in Game 4 though, and backed that up by wrapping up the series with a 6-3 success in Tampa.

The Maple Leafs enjoyed a winning start to this conference semi-final as they took down defending champions Florida, 5-4, on Monday night.
They went 52-26-4 in the regular season to seal a playoff place, and successfully negotiated the first round by beating Ottawa in six games.
Toronto raced out to a three-game lead as they beat Ottawa 6-2 in regulation and 3-2 in overtime at home, before heading on the road to down the Senators 3-2 in overtime.
The Maple Leafs then wobbled in a strong position, suffering 4-3 and 4-0 defeats, only to rally in Game 6 with a 4-2 victory in Ottawa.
Verdict
Toronto are underdogs despite their Game 1 win, and we are tempted by the plus-money.
