Buffalo come into this game in miserable form, having now lost four of their last six games.
The Sabres enjoyed a flurry earlier this month when they won three straight games, starting with a shootout win at home to Edmonton.
They followed that up by beating Detroit 7-3 and the New York Islanders 4-0, but failed to make it four-in-a-row as they then lost 4-1 in Detroit.
Buffalo responded with a 6-2 victory in Seattle, only to then lose their next two games as they fell 3-2 in Vancouver and 8-3 at Edmonton.
The Sabres avoided a third straight defeat as they won 4-1 in Calgary, but they quickly returned to losing ways with a 6-2 home defeat to Ottawa.
Verdict
New Jersey are the better team in better form, and they have owned Buffalo in recent years, so a road win looks likely.
