The Islanders enjoyed a flurry in late October as they won three times during a four-game spell, but they were unable to sustain that.

They failed to follow up a 3-0 shutout win at Washington as they lost 4-3 in overtime at home to Carolina.

New York then suffered a 4-2 defeat the hands of Minnesota, before heading out on the road for a 5-2 loss in Boston.

The Islanders’ losing run continued as they then lost 4-1 at home to Washington, and it reached five games on Monday when they were beaten 4-1 in Edmonton.

Vancouver enter this matchup on a great run of form, having won nine of their last 11 games to get to 10-3-1.

The Canucks saw a three-game win streak end with a 4-3 overtime defeat to the New York Rangers in late October.

They issued an immediate response though, beating Nashville 5-2, and that started a five-game win streak for them.

Vancouver went on to win 10-1 in San Jose, 2-0 at home to Dallas, 6-2 at home to Edmonton and 5-2 on the road in Ottawa.

The Canucks’ streak ended with a 5-2 defeat at Toronto, but they once again bounced back quickly from a loss, this time winning 5-2 in Montreal.
