Sweden Form
Sweden have won seven of their eight games at the World Championship to reach the semi-finals.
The Swedes opened the tournament with a 5-0 shutout win over Slovakia, and backed that up with a 4-2 victory over Austria.
They then edged Finland 2-1, before reeling off three consecutive shutout wins, beating Latvia 6-0, Slovenia 4-0 and France 4-0.
Sweden lost their final group game against Canada, 5-3, but by that point their place in the knockout stage was already secured.
The Swedes returned to winning ways in the quarter-finals, as they eliminated the defending champions, the Czech Republic, 5-2.
United States Form
The United States have also won seven of their eight games to make it to the final four in the World Championship.
The Americans kicked off their campaign with back-to-back shutout successes, beating Denmark 5-0 and Hungary 6-0.
They failed to make it three-in-a-row as they were shut out themselves in a 3-0 loss to Switzerland, but their response was strong.
The United States closed out the group campaign by backing up a 6-5 overtime win against Norway with a 6-3 victory over Germany, a 6-1 blowout of Kazakhstan and a 5-2 success against the Czech Republic.
The Americans then made it five wins in a row in the quarter-finals, as they downed Finland 5-2.
Verdict
The United States have been on a great run, but that loss to Switzerland still sounds alarm bells.
Sweden are on a role and just dispatched the defending champions in style, so we expect them to live up their billing as favorites.
