Tampa Bay head to Minnesota having lost their last couple of games, but having been in strong form since before Christmas, winning 20 of their last 24.
The Lightning began this sequence with an 11-game win streak that was finally brought to an end in the middle of January, but they responded to that loss with three straight wins.
They then answered an 8-5 defeat at Columbus with a run of six consecutive victories at home, starting with a 2-0 shutout of Utah.
Tampa Bay backed that up with wins against Winnipeg, 4-1, Boston, 6-5, Buffalo, 4-3, Florida, 6-1 and Toronto, 4-2.
The Lightning’s streak was finally ended last week though, as they lost 5-4 in Carolina, and they failed to bounce back at the weekend as they were beaten 6-2 by Buffalo.
Minnesota Wild Form
Minnesota also come into this matchup having dropped back-to-back games, but they have won nine of their previous 13.
The Wild won back-to-back road games in the middle of January, beating Buffalo 5-4 and Toronto 6-3, and then responded to a 4-3 loss at Montreal with a 4-3 home win against Detroit.
They failed to follow that up as they lost 4-3 in overtime to Florida, but they did answer that loss with a six-game win streak.
Minnesota beat Chicago 4-3, Calgary 4-1, Edmonton 7-3, Montreal 4-3, Nashville 6-5 and Colorado 5-2 during that red-hot run.
The Wild’s surge was ended by a 5-2 loss in Utah though, and that was followed by a 3-1 defeat when they hosted St Louis on Sunday.
