The Golden Knights’ terrible run began on the road as they lost 7-1 to Ottawa and 3-2 in overtime in Montreal, and continued as they fell 5-4 to Dallas and 3-2 to Seattle at home.
They then fell 4-3 in Anaheim, before seemingly turning things around as they backed up home wins against Vancouver, 5-2, and Los Angeles, 4-1, with a 6-4 road win over the Kings.
Vegas’ run was ended by a 3-2 loss in Washington, and that was the start of a three-game skid on the road as they also fell 5-0 to Pittsburgh and 3-2 to Buffalo.
The Golden Knights ended that road trip on a positive note, beating Detroit 4-3 in overtime, only then return home and lose 4-2 to both Minnesota and Edmonton.
Dallas Stars Form
Dallas enter this game as one of the hottest teams in the league, having now won 11 of their previous 12 games.
The Stars lost four times in five games in the middle of January, but back-to-back wins over St Louis – 3-2 at home and 4-3 on the road – sparked a dramatic turnaround.
They won 5-4 in Vegas and 3-2 in Utah, before heading back home to down Winnipeg 4-3 in overtime, St Louis 5-4, Seattle 4-1 and Nashville 3-2 in overtime.
Dallas took their win streak to 10 games on the road as they beat Vancouver and Calgary 6-1, but an 11th straight win was beyond them as they fell 5-4 at home to Colorado.
The Stars issued an immediate response though, as they beat Chicago 4-3 in overtime on Sunday.
