Vegas head to Montreal on the back of a blowout defeat in Ottawa – their third defeat in their last four games.

The Golden Knights were one of the hottest teams in the NHL earlier this month, as they reeled off seven consecutive victories.

They snapped a five-game skid with a 4-3 overtime win in Winnipeg, and backed that up by beating Columbus 5-3, St Louis 4-2, San Jose, 7-2, Los Angeles 3-2 in overtime, Toronto 6-5 in overtime and Nashville 7-2.

Vegas’ run was halted by a 2-1 home defeat to Philadelphia, and they have struggled to get back on track since then.

The Golden Knights have sandwiched a 6-3 win in Toronto with road defeats to Boston, 4-3, and Ottawa, 7-1.

Montreal Canadiens Form

Montreal enter this matchup on the back of a couple of defeats, meaning they have now lost five of their last eight games.

The Canadiens enjoyed a three-game surge earlier this month, which was ended by a 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Detroit.

They rebounded with a 6-3 success at home to Vancouver, only to then lose their next two as they fell 3-2 in overtime in Washington and 5-3 in regulation at Buffalo.

Montreal wrapped up that roadtrip with a 6-5 overtime success in Ottawa, and then backed that up at home as they downed Minnesota 4-3.

The Canadiens have not won since though, following up a 4-2 home defeat to Buffalo with a 4-3 road loss at Boston.

Verdict

Montreal’s recent overall form is not great, but they remain a strong proposition at home.
