They made it three-in-a-row with an 8-4 victory in Montreal, only to then suffer a 5-3 defeat when they returned home to take on Tampa Bay.
Washington rebounded quickly though with three consecutive home wins, beating Columbus 5-1, Winnipeg 4-3 and Toronto 4-2.
The Capitals then made it four wins in a row when they travelled to New York to take down the Islanders, 4-1.
Los Angeles Kings Form
Los Angeles enter this matchup on the back of a victory, but having lost four of their previous six games.
The Kings enjoyed a four-game win streak in the first half of November as they went out on the road to beat Pittsburgh 3-2, Montreal 5-1, Toronto 4-3 in overtime, and Ottawa 1-0.
They went cold after that though, as they followed up a 2-1 loss in Washington and a 4-3 shootout loss at San Jose with a 2-1 overtime defeat to Boston.
Los Angeles avoided a fourth straight loss as they beat Ottawa 2-1, but immediately returned to losing ways as they fell 5-4 at Anaheim.
The Kings issued an immediate response however, as they returned home to down Vancouver 2-1 in overtime.

Washington have been on a roll and already boast one win over the Kings this season.
