St Louis City vs FC Cincinnati Previews & Picks - Cincinnati to make it eight without defeat by beating St Louis

St Louis City were consigned to their second defeat in as many games last week as the Seattle Sounders dismantled them in a 3-0 humbling. 

FC Cincinnati were too good for Philadelphia Union last time out as they secured their third 1-0 win in a row. 

This will be the first clash between the two sides. 

St Louis City were enjoying a perfect run in their opening five matches as they defeated Austin FC, Charlotte, Portland Timbers, San Jose Earthquakes and Real Salt Lake to top the Western Conference.

However, defeats to Minnesota United and the Seattle Sounders have threatened to see the wheels come off their campaign. Of course, it is worth noting that City have only slipped down one place from first to second, trailing the Sounders by a single points. 

A win in this one could see St Louis move back to the top of the table if results go their way, although City will be focusing more on returning to form, with topping the table an added extra. 

FC Cincinnati have been brilliant this season, and the side are one of only two teams across both conferences to have avoided defeat so far this campaign. 

Five wins in their opening seven including three in their last three has allowed Cincinnati to move to the top of the Eastern Conference, a single point clear of New England Revolution in second. 

While Cincinnati have been quiet going forward by only scoring nine times in seven games, they have excelled at the back, conceding just four goals and keeping five clean sheets. If Cincinnati are to win this one, then it will likely be built on their excellent backline.
