Michelsen Shows Great Resilience

Alex Michelsen moved into the fourth round in Miami with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 comeback win over Alejandro Tabilo. He fired 12 aces and saved eight of nine break points in a strong performance.

It marks an impressive turnaround after a rough stretch on tour. Following his semifinal in Brisbane, he suffered four consecutive early exits but has now won six of his last seven matches, including a win over Taylor Fritz.

He had lost four straight round-of-16 matches this year, including against Daniil Medvedev in Indian Wells. He now faces a tough challenge ahead against tournament favorite Jannik Sinner.

Michelsen holds a 1-1 record in Masters round-of-16 matches. His only win came against Learner Tien in Toronto, before losing to Karen Khachanov in the next round.

Sinner Shows Complete Control

Jannik Sinner defeated Corentin Moutet 6-1, 6-4 to reach the fourth round in Miami. He saved the only break point he faced and won 79% of his first-serve points.

He is now one win away from reaching the Miami quarterfinal for the fifth time and has never lost before this stage at the event. His best result here is the title he won in 2024.

The Italian had a few setbacks earlier this season, losing to Novak Djokovic in Australia and Jakub Mensik in Doha. However, his Indian Wells title has boosted his confidence heading into this week.

Sinner holds a 17-7 record in Masters round-of-16 matches and is currently on a 10-match winning streak at this stage, with his last loss coming in Paris 2023.
