Rinderknech Seeks Strong Munich Debut

Arthur Rinderknech began his clay season with an upset win over Karen Khachanov in Monte Carlo but followed it up with a tight three-set loss to Joao Fonseca.

He was ranked outside the top 70 at this time last year but surged in the second half of the season, reaching the final in Shanghai, the fourth round at the US Open, and third rounds at Wimbledon and Cincinnati, which helped him climb to a career-high No. 26 earlier this year.

This will be his debut appearance in Munich. With no major ranking points to defend until the grass season, he can play freely, and a few strong results in the coming weeks could further boost his ranking.

Michelsen Builds Confidence This Week

Alex Michelsen started the season strongly with a semifinal run in Brisbane but then saw his form dip, winning only three matches across his next four events.

He bounced back impressively with back-to-back fourth-round appearances at Indian Wells and Miami, marking his best results at both events.

This will be his second appearance in Munich. On debut in 2024, he defeated Max Hans Rehberg before losing to Cristian Garin in the second round.

Verdict

Rather than picking a winner, the focus is on match dynamics. A tiebreak in the match, over 22.5 games, and over 10.5 games in the first set all align with a closely contested encounter.
