Medvedev Continues Desert Dominance
Daniil Medvedev defeated Sebastian Baez 6-4 6-0 to reach the fourth round in Indian Wells. He saved all four break points he faced and converted four of the 13 he created.
Medvedev is now aiming for his fourth consecutive quarterfinal here, having reached the final in 2023 and 2024 and the semifinal in 2025.
A few months ago, the Russian was close to dropping out of the top 20 after poor results during the North American swing.
However, he has bounced back strongly in 2026 with titles in Brisbane and Dubai and a fourth-round run at the Australian Open.
Medvedev holds a 25-10 record in Round-of-16 matches at Masters events. On hard courts at this stage, his record improves to 20-4, with his last defeat coming against Alexander Zverev in Cincinnati 2023.

Michelsen Produces Statement Win
Alex Michelsen produced a big upset by defeating world No.7 Taylor Fritz 6-4 7-6 to reach the fourth round in Indian Wells. He squandered a 5-3 lead in the second set but stayed composed to close the match in straight sets.
His previous top-10 win also came at the same stage in Toronto last year, where he went on to reach the quarterfinal, his only quarterfinal at Masters level so far.
This is a much-needed result for Michelsen, who arrived this week on the back of four consecutive early-round exits following his semifinal run in Brisbane earlier this season.
