Shapovalov Revives Form in Indian Wells
Denis Shapovalov reached the third round in Indian Wells after back-to-back three-set wins over Stefanos Tsitsipas and Tomas Martin Etcheverry. It is his first consecutive wins at a Masters event since Shanghai in 2024.
After struggling with form for a few years, Shapovalov produced a strong resurgence last season with four semifinal-or-better finishes, including two titles.
His results this year have been mixed, with a semifinal in Dallas but early exits in his other events.
Shapovalov has lost his last three third-round matches in Indian Wells. His only win at this stage came in 2019 when he reached the fourth round.

Sinner Finds Top Gear
Jannik Sinner defeated Dalibor Svrcina 6-1 6-1 to reach the third round in Indian Wells. It was his most dominant scoreline of the season so far.
The Italian has faced a few setbacks this year, including losses to Jakub Mensik in Doha and Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open. He also struggled on serve in that event, being broken six times by Eliot Spizzirri.
Those results, along with Carlos Alcaraz’s strong start this season, have increased the pressure in the race for the world No.1 ranking.
