Moller Advances After Strong Fight
Elmer Moller defeated Gabi Adrian Boitan 6-3, 7-5 to reach the second round in Bucharest. He came back from 3-5 down in the second set to close out the match in straight sets.
This marks just his second main-draw win of the year. Apart from his maiden tour-level win in Santiago, he exited in the first round or qualifying stages in his other six events.
Moller had a similar slow start last season before finding consistency on the Challenger circuit. He will look to build momentum again with a deeper run here.
Navone Saves Set Points Late
Mariano Navone advanced into the second round in Bucharest with a 6-4, 7-6 win over Christopher O’Connell. He allowed his opponent to serve for the second set twice but saved five set points to avoid a decider.
The Argentine had a slow start to the year, going winless during the Australian swing. He picked up a few opening-round wins on South American clay, with his standout result being the Cap Cana Challenger title.
Navone reached the final here on debut in 2024 but exited early last year against Marton Fucsovics. The last time he won multiple main-draw matches on tour was at Winston-Salem in August 2025.
