Rafael Jodar is flying high at the moment after winning his maiden ATP title in Marrakech and arrives here full of confidence. However, the price on him looks quite short against a seasoned clay-court player like Jaume Munar.

Munar Looks To Regain Rhythm

Jaume Munar returns to action for the first time since Rotterdam, where he reached the quarterfinal before losing to Alexander Bublik in three sets. An arm injury during that run halted his progress.

Last season, he played eight tournaments on clay, with seven ending in early exits. His only notable result came with a fourth-round run in Rome, and he will look to regain his level on this surface.

Munar has made 10 appearances at this event and holds a 6-3 record in opening-round matches, with his best results being round-of-16 runs in 2019, 2022, and 2025.

Jodar Continues Rapid Rise

Rafael Jodar won his maiden tour-level title in Marrakech on his clay debut, defeating Camilo Ugo Carabelli and Marco Trungelliti in the later rounds. The run has pushed him close to the top 50 in the rankings.

This marks a remarkable rise for the young Spaniard, who was ranked outside the top 700 at this time last year. Over the past 12 months, he has recorded eight semifinal-or-better finishes on the Challenger circuit, including three titles.

Jodar made his tour-level main-draw debut at the Australian Open earlier this year, reaching the second round, and followed it up with a third-round appearance in Miami.

Verdict

With Munar’s experience and ability to grind on clay, this could be closer than the odds suggest. Munar to win a set and a small punt on Munar to win both make plenty of sense in this matchup.
