This final presents a huge opportunity for both players at very different stages of their careers. The 36-year-old Marco Trungelliti faces teenage prospect Rafael Jodar, and with nerves likely to play a big role, this could turn into a tense contest.

Experience Meets Rising Momentum

  • Marco Trungelliti is 4–0 in Challenger finals since 2025.
  • He has beaten three seeded Top 60 opponents this week.
  • Jodar is 15–1 vs outside Top 100 players in 2026.
  • He has a 3–1 record in Challenger finals.

Trungelliti Reaches Maiden Tour Final

Marco Trungelliti defeated defending champion Luciano Darderi 6-4, 7-6 to reach the final in Marrakech. He was broken three times but raised his level in key moments.

He began the season with three consecutive qualifying exits before taking a short break. Since then, he has regained form with a Challenger title and another deep run in Kigali, and is now on an 11-match winning streak.

This is a massive confidence boost at this stage of his career. Prior to this week, he had won only five main-draw matches on tour in the last seven years, and this run will see him break into the top 100.

It is his maiden tour-level final. His previous best was a semifinal in Umag 2018, and since 2025 he has won all four Challenger finals on clay, which gives him strong belief heading into this title match.

Jodar Continues Remarkable Breakthrough Run

Rafael Jodar continued his breakthrough week by reaching the final in Bucharest with a dominant 6-2, 6-1 win over Camilo Ugo Carabelli. He saved both break points and converted four of eight chances.

A year ago, he was ranked outside the top 700, but he has made rapid progress since. Over the past 12 months, he has reached eight semifinals or better on the Challenger circuit, including three titles.

He has carried that form onto the main tour, reaching the second round of the Australian Open and picking up wins in Delray Beach and Acapulco, along with a third-round run in Miami.

With this result, he will achieve a new career-high ranking and break into the top 70. He holds a 3-1 record in Challenger finals, with all of those results coming on hard courts.

Verdict

Given the experience gap, trusting the teenager at short odds is risky. Trungelliti to win a set and Trungelliti +3.5 games handicap look like sensible ways to approach this match.
