Berrettini Keeps Comeback Season Rolling

Matteo Berrettini defeated Adrian Mannarino 4-6 7-5 7-5 to reach the second round in Indian Wells. After a slow start, he gradually found his rhythm as the match progressed.

Berrettini skipped the Australian swing to focus on recovery and returned during the South American clay swing to rebuild form and match fitness.

He is now aiming to win back-to-back matches in Indian Wells for the first time since reaching the fourth round in 2022, which remains his only multi-win run here.

Zverev Hoping to Reset After Acapulco

Alexander Zverev had a disappointing outing in Acapulco last week, losing in the second round to Miomir Kecmanovic in three tight sets. He created only one break point across the last two sets.

Earlier this year he reached the semifinal of the Australian Open and came close to upsetting Carlos Alcaraz after fighting back from two sets down and even serving for the match.

Zverev now makes his 10th main-draw appearance in Indian Wells. He has cleared the opening round six times and has never suffered back-to-back first-round losses here.

Verdict

Zverev looks set to take control of this contest from the outset. Backing Zverev to win in straight sets makes sense here, and he also has a strong chance to cover the -3.5 games handicap.
