Cameron Norrie will be full of confidence after his impressive win over Alex de Minaur. With that momentum and significantly greater experience at this stage compared to Rinky Hijikata, he looks well placed heading into this matchup.

  • Cameron Norrie is 3–2 vs outside Top 100 players this year.

This will be their first meeting.

Hijikata Shocks Bublik at Indian Wells

Rinky Hijikata produced another upset by defeating world No.10 Alexander Bublik 6-7 7-6 6-3. Impressively, he did not face a single break point in the match.

This is a breakthrough result for the Australian as he had never won multiple matches at a Masters event before this week. He also had never recorded back-to-back wins over top-50 players on hard courts.

Before arriving here, Hijikata had played six tournaments this season and five of them ended without multiple wins. His only notable result was a quarterfinal run at the San Diego Challenger.

He has played only one Round-of-16 match at a major event before, which came at the US Open in 2023, where he lost to Frances Tiafoe.

Norrie Revives Season with Big Win

Cameron Norrie defeated world No.6 Alex de Minaur 6-4 6-4 to reach the fourth round in Indian Wells. He saved six of the seven break points he faced and controlled the match from start to finish.

Norrie will be relieved with the result after third-round exits in the last two seasons here. He is now aiming for his fourth quarterfinal at the tournament, having previously reached that stage from 2021 to 2023.

The Brit had a difficult start to the season, playing five tournaments before this week and losing in the opening round in four of them, mostly against lower-ranked opponents.

Interestingly, Norrie has reached the quarterfinal at Masters level only four times in his career, all on US hard courts, including three runs here in Indian Wells. He holds a 4-7 record in Round-of-16 matches at this level.
