  • He has lost six of his last 11 matches vs outside Top 100 players.
  • Gaubas is 3–0 in opening-round matches on tour.

Baez Builds Clay Momentum

Sebastian Baez is coming off a disappointing opening-round loss to Adam Walton in Miami, marking one of his poorest performances of the season.

The Argentine had a strong start to the year, reaching the final in Adelaide, semifinals in Buenos Aires and Santiago, and the third round in Indian Wells. However, an early exit in his Rio title defense cost him valuable ranking points.

This will be his second appearance in Bucharest. On debut last year, he reached the final but lost to Flavio Cobolli in straight sets.

Gaubas Shows Consistent Progress

Vilius Gaubas has been on a steady rise in recent years, producing consistent results on the Challenger circuit, including six semifinal-or-better finishes since the start of 2025.

He has also made the most of limited tour-level opportunities, winning his opening match in all three appearances, including a third round in Rome 2025, a second round in Rio, and a quarterfinal in Santiago this year.

These performances have pushed him close to a top-100 debut in the rankings. He enters this match with a 1-2 record against top-50 players in his career.
