Humbert Seeks Monte Carlo Progress

Ugo Humbert has cleared the opening-round hurdle in Monte Carlo for only the second time in seven appearances. Five of his previous six campaigns ended in either qualifying or first-round exits.

The Frenchman dropped outside the top 20 after a disappointing stretch from Dubai to Shanghai last year and continues to struggle with consistency.

In 2026, he has registered multiple main-draw wins in only three of the nine events he has played, reaching the final in Adelaide, the semifinal in Rotterdam, and the fourth round in Miami.

He heads into this match with a 15-11 record in second-round matches at Masters events but has lost four of his last seven at this stage.

Sinner Dominates Masters Winning Streak

Jannik Sinner suffered a few disappointing losses early in the season, falling twice to Novak Djokovic from a set up at the Australian Open and losing to Jakub Mensik in Doha.

He responded in dominant fashion, winning his next 12 matches in straight sets to claim back-to-back titles at Indian Wells and Miami.

Sinner is now on a 17-match winning streak at Masters level, including his title run in Paris last year. He also became the first player to win three consecutive Masters titles without dropping a set since the format was introduced in 1990.

This will be his fifth appearance in Monte Carlo, where he has reached at least the quarterfinal in each of his last three visits.
