Alabama are the favorites to win the SEC in 2021, but can the Crimson Tide overcome the loss of key players and a bunch of coaches to retain their conference crown?

SEC Predictions & Tips: Alabama

The sportsbooks are backing Alabama to win the conference again but they have a lot to overcome.

Offensively they have lost a bunch of talent including their quarterback, their top running back, their best two receivers, the starting tight end and over half of the offensive line.

Bryce Young will take over from Mac Jones at quarterback and is being tipped for a breakout season.

The question is how quickly can the new-look Crimson Tide offense find its feet?

The Crimson Tide have also lost some highly-talented players on the other side of the football too.

Patrick Surtain, Christian Barmore and Dylan Moses are all gone but this is still a group with plenty of potential.

Despite some of the question marks surrounding them, Alabama are the favorites and that is understandable.

Head coach Nick Saban is an eight-time national champion – he knows how to the get the job done and he knows how to deal with losing multiple players to the NFL.

SEC Predictions & Tips: Georgia

If anyone can stop Alabama winning the conference the most likely candidate is Georgia.

The Bulldogs offense gave a glimpse of their potential for 2021 during the final few weeks of the 2020 season.

JT Daniels looks to be a QB that can get this offense firing and he will be assisted by some excellent talent in the backfield.

And perhaps more importantly he will be working behind an offensive line that returns three starters and boasts plenty of talent.

Defensively the Bulldogs are in great shape too with a bunch of experienced players returning.

That defensive front could prove to be a nightmare for opposition QBs to deal with in 2021.

There are question marks surrounding a new look and largely inexperienced group of defensive backs though.

Early on in the season the pressure is likely to be on the offense to rack up the points while the defense grows, but ultimately this is a talented team who could push Alabama.

SEC Predictions & Tips: Texas A&M

Texas A&M will field a first-year starting QB behind a rebuilt offensive line in 2021.

That is not the best position to be in but the Aggies do boast an outstanding defense so the offense may not need to rack up high scores.

Texas A&M also start the season with a pretty favourable schedule and this could give the offense time to find its feet.

The conference title is likely to be beyond them this season, but a 10-win campaign is not out of the question.

SEC Predictions & Tips: Florida

Florida were being discussed as a playoff contender last season, right up until their spectacular collapse.

A home loss to weakened LSU and an SEC Championship loss to Alabama was followed up by an embarrassing blowout defeat to Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl.

Since then they have lost several star players and received a low grade for their recruiting class.

Head coach Dan Mullen has hardly done himself any favors with some of his antics over the past 12 months either.

And just to top it all off, Florida are on probation for recruiting violations.

This is still a solid football team with some talent, but right now it is tough to see them matching last season’s run to the SEC Championship Game.

SEC Predictions & Tips: LSU

2020 was an underwhelming season for LSU as opt-outs and injuries took their toll.

There are no opt-outs this time around so if the Tigers can stay healthy they should enjoy much better fortunes in 2021.

We should see an increased win total this time around, but LSU winning the SEC is highly unlikely.

Verdict

Alabama have lost a bunch of players and coaches, but they still have Nick Saban and they are loaded with talent.

The Crimson Tide are the favorites for the national championship and they can stay on course for back-to-back crowns by taking the SEC title again in 2021.
