Ryan Garcia vs Oscar Duarte Preview & Picks

Ryan Garcia is backed to bounce back from his first ever loss.

Garcia is levels above Oscar Duarte and has repeatedly showcased fight-stopping power during his career.

  • Ryan Garcia has won 23 of his 24 professional fights
  • 19 of Ryan Garcia’s 23 career wins have come via stoppage
  • 3 of Ryan Garcia’s last 4 fights have ended between rounds 5-8

Ryan Garcia Form

Ryan Garcia has a record of 23-1 (19 KOs) and is looking to bounce back from the first defeat of his career.

Garcia spent the first several years of his career fighting at super-featherweight, before making the move up to lightweight.

He knocked out Romero Duno in the first round in November 2019 to win the vacant WBC silver lightweight title.

The 25-year-old Californian then stopped Francesco Fonseca in the first round in his first title defence, earning himself a shot at the vacant WBC interim belt.

Garcia faced British star Luke Campbell for the title and emerged victorious thanks to a seventh round knockout.

From here he beat Emmanuel Tagoe by decision and knocked out Javier Fortuna in the sixth round to set up a high-profile showdown with Gervonta Davis.

Garcia’s night ended in disappointment though, as he was knocked out in the seventh round by ‘Tank’.

Oscar Duarte Form

Oscar Duarte has compiled a 26-1-1 (21 KOs) professional record since debuting as a professional in 2013.

Duarte has spent his career fighting on lesser cards and undercards, but has rebounded from his only defeat so far.

He dropped a split decision to Adrian Estrella back in February 2019, and since that night he has reeled off 11 consecutive wins.

The 27-year-old Mexican-born lightweight has fought twice already this year, winning by stoppage on both occasions.

Duarte knocked out Alex Martin in the eighth round back in March, and in May he beat D’Angelo Keyes by seventh-round stoppage.

Verdict

Ryan Garcia took a lot of heat for his knockout loss to Gervonta Davis, so he will have a point to prove.

We expect Garcia to outclass Oscar Duarte before knocking him in out in the middle rounds of a bout scheduled to go 12.
