The Stampeders opened up the 2025 campaign and the new-look offense produced a strong display as they beat Hamilton 38-26.
It was a good start for a team looking to rebound from a disappointing 2024 campaign that saw a two-decade streak of making the playoffs come to an end.
Calgary failed to string together wins all season and eventually finished bottom of the West Division with a 5-12-1 record.
The Stampeders put that behind them as they warmed up for the 2025 season by beating the BC Lions 26-17 on the road and Edmonton 31-4 at home.

Toronto go into their home opener looking to rebound from the season-opening defeat in Montreal.
Despite being the defending champions, the Argonauts opened up on the road and fell to a 28-10 defeat at the hands of the Alouettes.
It was a rough start for a team that is seeking to win back-to-back CFL Grey Cup titles.
Toronto went 10-8 during the 2024 regular season, and then downed Ottawa 58-38 before claiming the Grey Cup with a 30-28 victory over Montreal.
The Argonauts warmed up for their defence of the Canadian crown by rebounding from a 24-16 defeat in Hamilton with a 30-23 win at home to the Tiger-Cats.
Verdict
Calgary showed promise in their season opener, but we cannot look past last season’s miserable road record.
Until the Stampeders show us something on the road it will be tough to trust them, especially against the defending champions who many expect will win back-to-back titles.
