Montreal Alouettes at BC Lions Preview & Picks

BC are tipped to cover the spread as they make it back-to-back wins.

The Lions already boast one win over the Alouettes this season, and Montreal’s QB headache does little to suggest we will not see a repeat here.

Montreal Alouettes Form

Montreal head back out on the road looking to snap a two-game losing sequence that has dropped them to 5-4.

The Alouettes opened the season with a 28-10 win over defending champions Toronto, and backed that up on their travels as they beat Ottawa 39-18 and Edmonton 38-28.

Their perfect start was ended by a 35-17 defeat in Hamilton, and they then lost 21-20 at home to the BC Lions to go into their first bye at 3-2.

Montreal rallied when they returned to action, beating Toronto 26-25 at home, and that was followed by a 23-21 success in Calgary.

The Alouettes have not won since though, losing 34-6 at home to Saskatchewan and 23-22 at home to Edmonton.

BC Lions Form

BC go into this game looking to follow up last week’s win and get their record back to .500 for the first time since early June.

The Lions kicked off the campaign with a 31-14 win at home to Edmonton, only to see their form nose-dive after a 34-20 road loss to Winnipeg.

They then lost 27-14 at home to the Blue Bombers and 37-18 at Saskatchewan, before finally getting back on track with road wins in Montreal, 21-20, and Edmonton, 32-14.

BC failed to keep that winning run going though, as they were beaten 37-27 by Saskatchewan and 37-33 by Hamilton at home.

The Lions avoided a third straight loss however, as they returned form the bye week with a 41-38 overtime win in Hamilton last time out.

Verdict

Montreal have blown hot and cold and now have a big decision to make at quarterback.

So while BC have hardly been the model of consistency, we like their chances of maintaining their recent dominance of the Alouettes.
