Winnipeg head out on the road looking to keep the heat on Calgary in the race for the final playoff place in the West.
The Blue Bomber opened the season with three consecutive wins, but have ridden a rollercoaster of from since then.
Their playoff hopes took a hit in late August and the first half of September as they lost three straight games, falling 34-30 and 21-13 to Saskatchewan, before losing 32-21 in Hamilton.
However, Winnipeg steadied the ship before their recent bye and are now back in the mix thanks to Calgary’s four-game skid.
The Blue Bombers stopped the rot with a 26-18 win in Ottawa, before returning home to down Hamilton 40-3.
Edmonton Elks Form
Edmonton enter this matchup on the back of a win, and while they are not officially out of the playoff race, it would take a miracle for them to make it.
The Elks dug themselves into an early hole as they lost their first three games, before rallying to beat Ottawa 39-33 at home.
They failed to build on that though as they lost the next three, only to resurrect their postseason hopes with a three-game run that saw them beat Montreal 23-22, Toronto 28-20 and Ottawa 30-20.
That run was ended by a 28-7 defeat to Calgary, but Edmonton avenged that loss a week later to take down the Stampeders 31-19.
The Elks were unable to back that up as however, losing 31-30 in Toronto and 29-27 in Hamilton, but they did avoid a third straight loss as they beat Saskatchewan 27-25 last time out.
Verdict
Winnipeg have had their issues this season, but they have kept themselves in the hunt.
