The world's best golfers and celebrities rub shoulders in the latest round of the PGA Tour this weekend. Who will emerge as the winner at the prestigious Pebble Beach golf course come Sunday?
Tom Hoge returns to defend his AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am title after a two-stroke victory over Jordan Spieth in 2022.
Past and present major winners competing this weekend include Matt Fitzpatrick, Jason Dufner, Lucas Glover, Geoff Ogilvy, Webb Simpson, Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth, Jimmy Walker, and Danny Willett.
Notable celebrities in the line-up include Jason Bateman, Bill Murray and Gareth Bale.
The golfers compete on the Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course and Monterey Peninsula Country Club for rounds one to three before finishing at Pebble Beach on Sunday.
These are our four selections that could lift the trophy this weekend.
Matt Fitzpatrick
Matt Fitzpatrick has been threatening to produce another winning performance in recent starts by placing second at the Italian Open, T22 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, MC at the Andalucia Masters, T13 at the CJ Cup, T5 at the DP World Tour Championship, T13 at the Hero World Challenge and T7 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.
Other significant results achieved last year include placing T10 at the Phoenix Open, T9 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T5 at the Valspar Championship, T2 at the Wells Fargo Championship, T5 at the PGA Championship, T10 at the RBC Canadian Open, winning the US Open, T6 at the Genesis Scottish Open and T5 at the FedEx St Jude Championship.
The 28-year-old Englishman has featured three times at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, missing the cut in 2019, finishing T60 in 2020, and placing T6 in 2022.
Fitzpatrick has been holding form and has claims for the title in California.
Viktor Hovland
Viktor Hovland has been in great touch at the start of the new 2022/23 PGA Tour season, placing T5 at the ZOZO Championship, T21 at the CJ Cup, T10 at the World Wide Technology Championship, victory at the Hero World Challenge and T18 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.
Other noteworthy performances by the Norwegian golfer last year include placing T4 at the Abu Dhabi Championship, victory at the Dubai Desert Classic, T4 at the Genesis Invitational, T2 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T9 at the Players Championship, T4 at the Open Championship and T5 at the BMW PGA Championship.
He has made one appearance at this PGA Tour event, finishing T38 in 2020.
Hovland has been putting in solid performances and has an excellent chance to emerge victorious at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-AM.
Maverick McNealy
Maverick McNealy has had an excellent start to the new season on the PGA Tour by placing T10 at the Shriners Children's Open, T12 at the ZOZO Championship, T18 at the CJ Cup in South Carolina, T10 at the World Wide Technology Championship, T27 at the Houston Open, T7 at the Sony Open in Hawaii and T31 at the Farmers Insurance this past weekend.
The American had fair to good results throughout 2022, with his best being T7 at the Genesis Invitational, 17th at the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play, T26 at the RBC Heritage, T8 John Deere Classic, T16 at Genesis Scottish Open, T9 at the Barracuda Championship, T31 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and T32 at the BMW Championship.
The 27-year-old has played at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am four times, missing the cut in 2018, placing T5 in 2020 and second in 2021 before finishing T33 in 2022.
McNealy has improved his game in the last few months and will fancy his chances to lift the trophy as he has previously come close to winning at Pebble Beach.
Joel Dahmen
Joel Dahmen has been posting consistent results on the PGA Tour in recent months, placing T13 at the Sanderson Farms Championship, T37 at the Shriners Children's Open, T16 at the ZOZO Championship, T3 at the World Wide Technology Championship, T9 at the Houston Open and T5 at the RSM Classic.
Other achievements the 35-year-old produced last year include T28 at the Tournament of Champions, T12 at the RBC Heritage, T29 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, T32 at the Memorial Tournament, and T10 at the US Open.
The American has competed at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on five occasions, finishing T48 in 2017, T55 in 2018, T14 in 2020, T60 in 2021 and T6 in 2022.
Dahmen has had two top-five places, including one top-ten finish in his last three starts and offers excellent value in California this weekend.
Verdict
Hovland has the game to register another PGA Tour title in California this weekend.
McNealy has solid form and can challenge at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Dahmen has found consistency lately and could upstage the others with the victory this weekend.
