Cleveland entered this series having seen their form cool off with three defeats in their last five games.
The Guardians opened the season by winning nine of their first 12 games, and then rebounded from a run of three defeats in four games with eight wins in a nine-game spell.
They won three of their four games in Boston, before returning home to sweep Oakland with 10-2, 6-3 and 6-2 victories.
Cleveland then went 2-1 in a three-game series with the Red Sox, sandwiching an 8-0 defeat with 10-2 and 6-2 wins.
The Guardians did not enjoy similar success when they started this road trip however, losing 6-2 and 4-3 either side of a 3-2 victory.
Houston Astros Form
Houston came into this series with Cleveland looking to build on a couple of victories in Colorado last week.
The Astros made a rough start to their season and went into that series with the Rockies having lost eight of their previous nine games.
They were swept in a three-game series in Atlanta, losing 6-1, 6-2 and 5-4, and then failed to build on a 5-3 victory in Washington as they lost 5-4, and 6-0 to the Nationals.
Houston moved on to Chicago from there and dropped all three meetings with the Cubs, 7-2, 4-3 and 3-1.
The Astros steadied the ship in Colorado though, as they beat the Rockies 12-4 and 8-2 before returning home.
Verdict
Both starting pitchers enter this game in good form, so we are not expecting a blitz of runs like we got in the series opener.
