They finally got off the mark with a 10-0 shutout win over Toronto, but failed to build on that in the next outing with the Blue Jays as they lost 2-1.
Houston rebounded with an 8-0 victory in the final game of the series, only to again fail to back up a win as they lost 10-2 and 7-2 in Texas.
The Astros did manage to split the series though, beating the Rangers 3-1 and 10-5 to win back-to-back games for the first time this season.
Kansas City Royals Form
Kansas City came into this series in great form, having won six of their previous eight games and each of the last four.
The Royals kicked off the season at home to Minnesota and dropped the first two meetings with the Twins, 4-1 and 5-1.
They rebounded to take the final meeting, 11-0, only to then lose 6-4 in Baltimore in the first game of that series.
Kansas City won the next meeting with the Orioles, 4-1, but they again failed to follow up a loss as they dropped the last game of the series, 4-3.
The Royals had no such issues when they returned home to face the Chicago White Sox however, reeling off 10-1, 2-1, 3-0 and 5-3 wins to complete a series sweep.
Verdict
Houston have made a miserable start to the season, making in-form Kansas City an appealing selection at home.
