However, the Marlins failed to follow up that victory as they lost the next two games against the Guardians, 8-0 and 6-3.
New York Mets Form
New York came into this series in improved form, having won four of their previous five matchups.
The Mets struggled in the second half of May as they stacked up a bunch of losses, and they started June with two more defeats.
They were beaten 10-5 and 5-4 when they hosted Arizona, settling for a split of the four-game series with the Diamondbacks.
New York bounced back on the road though, as they travelled to Washington and swept the Nationals with 8-7, 6-3 and 9-1 wins.
The Mets failed to make it four-in-a-row as they were beaten 7-2 by Philadelphia in London, but they did hit back to win the second meeting across the pond, downing the Phillies 6-5.
Verdict
New York avenged the series-opening loss and go into this game as the team in better form.
They also have the edge at starting pitcher, so we expect the Mets to not just win this game, but cover the Line too.
