The Yankees went into that series in Miami on a decent run of form, having rebounded from 12-5 and 9-4 home defeats to Philadelphia.
They avoided being swept by the Phillies as they won the final meeting 4-3, and then responded to a 4-2 series opening defeat to Tampa Bay.
New York took the next three meetings with the Rays, reeling off 7-5, 5-4 and 7-4 wins to go into this trip with some form.
The Yankees failed to register a victory in Miami though, as they suffered 13-12, 2-0 and 7-3 defeats to the Marlins.
Texas Rangers Form
Texas return home after a disappointing road trip that culminated with a defeat in Seattle last night.
The Rangers went into that run of road games in great form, having won eight times during a nine-game sequence of home games.
They began that with 2-0 and 4-1 wins over Detroit, before rebounding from a 2-1 defeat to the Tigers with series sweeps of the Athletics (7-2, 6-2, 2-1) and Atlanta (8-3, 6-5, 8-1).
Texas failed to maintain that momentum on the road though, as they lost 6-4 and 8-5 to the Los Angeles Angels, before winning the finale 6-3.
The Rangers then lost 6-4 and 4-3 in Seattle, and failed to build on a 6-4 win over the Mariners as they lost the last meeting 5-4.
Verdict
Patrick Corbin does not have the strongest of records this season, but there is no doubting that Texas have been strong at home.
