Toronto Blue Jays Form
Toronto head out on the road for the first time in the 2025 World Series having surrendered a one-game lead to squander home advantage.
The Blue Jays rallied from an early deficit to blow out Los Angeles in Game 1 at home, 11-4, but they were unable to back that up on Saturday night as they dropped the second meeting, 5-1.
They had entered the World Series showdown with the Dodgers having won seven of their 11 playoff postseason games.
Toronto took the AL East with a 94-68 record, and that was enough to earn them a bye for the first round of the playoffs.
When the Blue Jays did finally begin their playoff campaign they put together back-to-back home wins over the New York Yankees, 10-1 and 13-7, before rebounding from a 9-6 road defeat with a series-sealing 5-2 victory.
They dug themselves into an early hole in the AL Championship Series as they fell to 3-1 and 10-3 defeats at home to Seattle, but they responded to those setbacks with 13-4 and 8-2 wins on the road.
Toronto failed to make it three-in-a-row as they were beaten 6-2 in Game 5, but with their World Series dream on the line they rallied to clinch the series with 6-2 and 4-3 victories.
Los Angeles Dodgers Form
Los Angeles return home with a slight edge in the World Series, having rebounded from a Game 1 defeat with a big road win at the weekend.
The Dodgers opened this series with a disappointing 11-4 defeat in Toronto that saw them blow an early lead, but there were no such issues on Saturday as they rebounded with a 5-1 win to level the series.
They came into the World Series in red-hot form, having won nine of their 10 postseason outings.
Los Angeles' 93-69 regular-season record was not enough to earn they a playoff bye, but that did no matter as they swept Cincinnati in the Wild Card thanks to 10-5 and 8-4 victories.
The Dodgers then made a dream start to the series with Philadelphia as they won 5-3 and 4-3 on the road, before responding to their first postseason setback, an 8-2 defeat, with a series-clinching 2-1 win.
That set up a NL Championship Series showdown with Milwaukee, and they were able to complete an emphatic sweep of the Brewers in four games.
They opened with 2-1 and 5-1 victories on the road in Milwaukee, before returning home to wrap things up with 3-1 and 5-1 victories.
Verdict
Los Angeles' response to that Game 1 defeat with a strong one, and we expect them to build on it.
The Dodgers have home advantage for this one, and tonight LA are sending out a pitcher who has given up very little in his recent postseason outings.
