Mario Bautista vs Vinicius Oliveira Preview & Picks

Mario Bautista is tipped to return to winning ways in this main event fight.

Bautista was hardly shamed in that defeat to Umar Nurmagomedov, even scoring a knockdown in the contest, and his well-rounded skillset can lead him to a decision win.

  • Mario Bautista is 8-1 in his last 9 fights
  • Mario Bautista’s previous 4 wins came via decision
  • Mario Bautista has gone the distance in each of his last 5 fights
  • Vinicius Oliveira has gone the distance in each of his last 3 bouts

Mario Bautista Form

Mario Bautista enters this fight as the number nine ranked bantamweight contender with a professional record of 16-3 (3 KOs, 6 Subs).

Bautista debuted in the UFC in January 2019, having had just six professional fights prior to that, and he made a losing start as he tapped out to Cory Sandhagen in the first round.

He quickly rebounded with back-to-back wins, before being knocked out in the second round by Trevin Jones, but since then he has established himself as a top contender in the division.

The 32-year-old American rebounded with a unanimous decision victory over Jay Perrin, and followed that up with first-round submission wins over Brian Kelleher, Benito Lopez and Guido Cannetti.

Bautista then registered back-to-back decision wins over Da’Mon Blackshear and Ricky Simon, earning himself the biggest fight of his career to that point.

He took on the legendary Jose Aldo at UFC 307 in October 2024 and emerged victories, beating the former world champion by split decision.

The American bantamweight followed that up in June of last year as he out-pointed Patchy Mix, but he failed to make it nine-in-a-row last October as he dropped a decision to Umar Nurmagomedov.

Vinicius Oliveira Form

Vinicius Oliveira comes into this contest as the number 11 ranked bantamweight contender with a career record of 23-3 (16 KOs, 2 Subs).

Oliveira is a relative newcomer to the UFC, having earned his contract in September 2023 when he knocked out Victor Madrigal in the first round on Dana White’s Contender Serie

The 30-year-old Brazilian marked his UFC debut with a third-round knockout of Bernardo Sopaj in March 2024.

He backed that up with a unanimous decision win over Ricky Simon in June of that year, and then earned a points win over Said Nurmagomedov in February 2025.

‘Lok Dog’ made it four straight wins inside the Octagon last July, as he beat Kyler Phillips by unanimous decision to put himself on the brink of the top 10 in the division.

Verdict

Vinicius Oliveira takes plenty of momentum into this fight, but Mario Bautista represents his toughest test to date.

Bautista combines a well-rounded game with an experience advantage when it comes to fighting in the UFC, and as a result we are leaning towards him earning the decision win.
