Indiana beat Milwaukee 117-98 and 123-115 as they made a flying start to the first round series, only to drop their road opener 117-101.
The Pacers responded strongly though, winning 129-103 on the road and 119-118 in overtime at home to wrap up a 4-1 series success.
That set up a blockbuster semi-final showdown with Cleveland, and they made a dream start with 121-112 and 120-119 victories on the road.
Indiana dropped their opening home game of the series, 126-104, but bounced back quickly with a 129-109 win at home, before sealing a 4-1 series victory with a 114-105 win on the road.
New York Knicks Form
New York go into the second game of the Eastern Conference Finals in need of a victory.
The Knicks went into the series with Indiana with home court advantage, but threw it away in the series-opener as they were beaten 138-135 in overtime at the Garden.
They came into this series having knocked out defending champions Boston while going 8-4 to reach this stage.
New York made a mixed start to the postseason as they went 1-1 at home against Detroit, winning 123-112 and losing 100-94.
The Knicks rallied on the road though, winning 118-116 and 94-93, and then bounced back from a 108-103 defeat on the road with a series-clinching 116-113 win in Detroit.
They then made a sensational start to the semi-final series with Boston, as they beat the defending champions in back-to-back games on the road, 108-105 in overtime and 91-90 in regulation.
New York dropped their home opener 115-93, but took two of the next three to advance, sandwiching a 127-102 defeat with 121-113 and 119-81 victories.
Verdict
It is almost impossible to ignore Indiana’s spread record on the road and as an underdog.
