The Horned frogs then returned home to beat #8 Oklahoma State 43-40 and #17 Kansas State 38-28 to stake their claim for a place in the College Football Playoffs.
They then strengthened those calls with a 34-24 win against Texas Tech that propelled them into the top four for the first time.
Since then TCU have beaten #18 Texas 17-10 and Baylor 29-28 on the road to retain the #4 spot.
