The Orange opened with a 45-26 loss to ranked Tennessee, but they rebounded with back-to-back non-conference games, beating Connecticut 27-20 and Colgate 66-24.
They then kicked off their ACC schedule with a 34-21 upset win over Clemson on the road, but it has been all downhill ever since.
Syracuse were brought back down to Earth by a 38-3 defeat at home to Duke a week later, and then lost 31-18 at SMU and 30-13 at home to Pitt.
The Orange then sandwiched a 27-10 home loss to NC State with road defeats to Georgia Tech, 41-16, and Miami, 38-10.
Notre Dame Form
Notre Dame enter this matchup on a red-hot run of form, having rebounded from losing their first two games to win eight straight.
The Fighting Irish dug themselves into an early hole with a 27-24 loss at Miami and a 41-40 home defeat to Texas A&M, but they have resurrected their playoff hopes since then.
They got off the mark with a 56-30 victory over Purdue, and backed that up with a 56-13 road success at Arkansas.
Notre Dame then returned home to down Boise State 28-7, NC State 36-7 and USC 34-24, before heading to Boston College for a 25-10 win.
The Fighting Irish made it seven-in-a-row with a 49-10 blowout of Navy, before making it eight straight wins last weekend as they downed Pitt on the road, 37-15.
Verdict
Notre Dame are on a roll, but they have not been the most reliable of spread bets and this is a lot of points.
Syracuse coach Fran Brown is not a man to lay down either, so we expect Syracuse to put up enough points to at least cover the spread.
