Cleveland Browns at Houston Texans Preview & Picks

Cleveland are tipped to cover as they win on the road.

The Browns have an experience edge at quarterback and a loaded defense that can slow CJ Stroud.

  • Cleveland Browns are 7-3-0 ATS in their last 10 games
  • Cleveland beat Houston by 14 points when they met on December 24
  • Houston Texans are 2-4-0 ATS in their last 6 home games
  • The Over has cashed in 10 of Cleveland’s last 13 games

Head To Head

  • The all-time series is tied 7-7
  • Cleveland Browns won 36-22 when the two teams last met on December 24

Cleveland Browns Form

Cleveland enter this playoff clash having won four of their last five games to finish the regular season with an 11-6 record.

The Browns found some consistency through October and November as they won five times in six games to put themselves firmly in the playoff mix.

Their form cooled with a 29-12 defeat in Denver and a 36-19 loss at the Los Angeles Rams, but they turned things around in December to march into the postseason.

Cleveland beat Jacksonville 31-27 to spark a four-game win streak that saw them down Chicago 20-17, Houston 36-22 and the New York Jets 37-20.

That allowed the Browns to rest their starters for their regular season finale, which they lost 31-14 in Cincinnati.

Houston Texans Form

Houston won their final two games of the season to clinch the AFC South title courtesy of a 10-7 record.

The Texans won six of their first 10 games of the season to stay in the race to win a wide open division, but struggled for consistency after losing 24-21 to Jacksonville in late November.

They won just twice in a five-game spell that saw them lose rookie star CJ Stroud to a concussion.

Houston’s struggles included a 36-22 defeat at the hands of their postseason opponents, Cleveland, on Christmas Eve.

Stroud returned for the final two games of the season though, and his return was a shot in the arm for the Texans as they beat Tennessee 26-3 and Indianapolis 23-19 to win the South.

Verdict

It has been a fantastic season for a Houston team led by a rookie head coach and rookie quarterback.

Cleveland are poised to deliver a reality check though – Joe Flacco knows what it takes to get the job done in the postseason and this Browns defense is more than capable of slowing down CJ Stroud.
