Houston head to Arrowhead on their best run of the season so far, having won four straight games to improve to 7-5.
The Texans made a rough start as they lost their first three games, sandwiching a 20-19 home loss to Tampa Bay with road defeats to the Los Angeles Rams, 14-9, and Jacksonville, 17-10.
They finally got off the mark with a 26-0 shutout of Tennessee, and then blew out Baltimore on the road, 44-10, before rebounding from a 27-19 loss at Seattle with a 26-15 win over San Francisco.
Houston failed to follow that up as they lost 18-15 to Denver, but they have not tasted defeat since then.
The Texans have backed up a 36-29 win over Jacksonville by beating Tennessee 16-13, Buffalo 23-19 and Indianapolis 20-16.
Kansas City Chiefs Form
Kansas City enter this matchup on a miserable run of form, having now lost three of their last four games to fall to 6-6.
The Chiefs began the season with a 27-21 defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil, and then lost a Super Bowl rematch at home to Philadelphia, 20-17.
They rallied with a 22-9 win at the New York Giants and a 37-20 success at home to Baltimore, only to then suffer a 31-28 defeat when they visited Jacksonville.
Kansas City responded with their best run of the season, reeling off three straight home wins as they beat Detroit 30-17, Las Vegas 31-0 and Washington 28-7.
The Chiefs’ run ended on the road as they lost 28-21 at Buffalo and 22-19 in Denver, and they then failed to back up a 23-20 overtime win over Indianapolis at home as they lost 31-28 at Dallas.
Verdict
Kansas City have massively underwhelmed through 13 weeks and are in serious danger of missing out on the playoffs.
They desperately need a home win here, and the Chiefs’ record at Arrowhead suggests they will get it.
