- New England Patriots are 7-1-0 ATS in their 8 road games
- Denver Broncos were 0-3-0 ATS in their 3 regular season defeats
- The two teams have allowed a combined 36.7 points per game

New England Patriots Form
New England head out on the road for the first time in the playoffs having now won 14 of their 17 games this season.
The Patriots got off to a slow start as they won just one of their first three games, but a 42-13 blowout of Carolina kick-started a run that culminated in an AFC East crown.
They then won three straight on the road, beating Buffalo 23-20, New Orleans 25-19 and Tennessee 31-13, before returning home to down Cleveland 32-13 and Atlanta 24-23.
New England than sandwiched a 27-14 home win over the New York Jets with road successes at Tampa Bay, 28-23, and Cincinnati, 26-20, and then made it 10-in-a-row with a 33-15 victory at home to the New York Giants.
The Patriots’ run was finally halted by a 35-31 loss to Buffalo, but they rebounded over the final three weeks of the regular season, beating Baltimore 28-24, the New York Jets 42-10 and Miami 38-10 to finish 14-3.
They then opened their postseason campaign with a 16-3 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card, before downing Houston 28-16 in the Division round.
Denver Broncos Form
Denver enter the AFC Championship Game having won 15 of their previous 18 games to make it to within 60 minutes of the Super Bowl.
The Broncos opened the campaign with a victory, but went cold over the next couple of weeks as they lost back-to-back road games.
They responded strongly to that early setback though, following up a 28-3 win at home to Cincinnati with road wins over Philadelphia, 21-17, and the New York Jets, 13-11.
Denver then took that win streak to eight games before the bye week as they beat the New York Giants 33-32, Dallas 44-24, Houston 18-15, Las Vegas 10-7 and Kansas City 22-19.
The Broncos then returned to action to beat Washington 27-26, Las Vegas 24-17, Green Bay 34-26, before rebounding from a 34-20 loss to Jacksonville with wins over Kansas City, 20-13, and the Los Angeles Chargers, 19-3, to close out the regular season.
Their 14 regular season victories ensured the number one seed and a playoff bye, and having sat out Wild Card weekend they returned to action in the Division round to beat Buffalo 33-30 in overtime.
Verdict
The whole outlook of the AFC Championship Game changed dramatically when Sean Payton announced Bo Nix’s season-ending injury.
The Broncos are not a one-man team, but being down to a backup quarterback with little previous game time against Mike Vrabel and this Patriots defense is a recipe for trouble.
New England are perfect on the road this season and have covered consistently, and we expect more of the same in the AFC Championship Game.
