Boston head to Anaheim having cooled off in recent days, losing two of their last three games to slip to 12-9.
The Bruins opened the season with three consecutive wins, but their form nose-dived over the next couple of weeks as they lost six straight games.
They finally snapped that skid with a 3-2 win over Colorado, only to lose 7-2 in Ottawa, but they responded in emphatic fashion as a 5-2 win over the New York Islanders sparked a seven-game tear.
Boston then beat Buffalo 4-3 in overtime, Carolina 2-1 in regulation, New York Islanders 4-3 via a shootout, Ottawa 3-2 in overtime and Toronto 5-3 in regulation, both on the road and at home.
The Bruins’ surge was ended by a 5-3 loss in Ottawa, and they then failed to follow up a 3-2 win at Montreal as they lost 3-1 to Carolina last time out.
Anaheim Ducks Form
Anaheim enter this matchup on the back of a victory that ended a three-game skid and improved their record to 12-6-1.
The Ducks were a mixed bunch over the first few weeks, going 4-4 in their first eight games, but they found some form in late October.
They beat defending champions Florida 3-2 via a shootout, and backed that up by beating Detroit 5-2, New Jersey 4-1 and Florida 7-3 at home.
Anaheim then took their streak to seven games as they beat Dallas 7-5 and Vegas 4-3 in overtime on the road, before heading back home to down Winnipeg 4-1.
The Ducks’ run was ended as they lost three straight on the road, falling 4-1 to Colorado, 6-3 to Colorado, 2-0 to Minnesota, but they responded with a 3-2 overtime win at home to Utah.
Verdict
Anaheim had a rough run recently, but those losses were on the road.
