Carolina then went out on the road and enjoyed a successful West Coast stint as they beat San Jose 5-1, Anaheim 4-1, and Los Angeles 4-3 in overtime.
The Hurricanes failed to make it to 6-0 however, as their perfect start finally ended with a 4-1 defeat in Vegas.

Colorado return home looking to bounce back from their second loss of the campaign, which has left them 5-2.
The Avalanche kicked things off on the road as they beat Los Angeles 4-1, and they then backed that up in the home opener, beating Utah 2-1.
They failed to make it three-in-a-row as they lost via a shootout at home to Dallas, but they issued a solid response to that loss as they won the next three.
Colorado went out on the road to beat Buffalo 3-1 and Columbus 4-1, before returning home to down Boston, 4-1.
The Avalanche’s run was ended on the road though, as they fell to a 4-3 overtime defeat in Utah last time out.
